The plastic, rather than fabric, exterior means it is splash resistant should you be caught in an unexpected rainstorm or need to wheel your bag through a puddle. It’s worth noting that water can penetrate through the reinforced single zip so the case is not entirely waterproof. Whether or not you like the clamshell design is entirely a personal decision and not reflective of Tripp or other manufacturers. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; a bit of give in the shell actually means the case is less likely to be damaged when it bumps into things or is thrown around by baggage handlers.

The Tripp Holiday 6 collection comes in three different sizes - cabin, medium and large - and six different colours, which means you know you’ll be able to find something that suits you. It looks stylish too; and, unless everyone else buys a Tripp suitcase after reading this, they’re pretty easy to spot at an airport.

And while it’s not the cheapest option around, it has a lot of features that you would usually find on premium suitcases without the associated price tag. As for the wheels, they are perfectly adequate on smooth floors but when you get it out on the carpet or on bumpy pavement, it does occasionally struggle.

It’s not going to last you forever, but if you don’t travel frequently you should get a few years’ use out of it. This review is for the Tripp Holiday 6 four wheel cabin size suitcase. Should you need something bigger, the range also has a medium (66L capacity) and large (102L capacity) cases. Compared to other large suitcases, this one is pretty much in the middle in terms of size and capacity but it’s definitely one of the lightest options around.
