I've opened and cleaned my one many times but as most of the wee retaining clips have long since snapped off, I've decided to replace it. I was very pleased when I first took it apart, washed the rubber and successfully re-assembled it. The remote worked as well as it had when it was new. However, after a few months it was working poorly again. Thanks for taking the time to look. Unfortunately the source button doesn't do anything from the RM-F01, when used with the code 108 but it does light up the audio button, so a signal is being sent. The other two codes do nothing from the sources button. I found that plastic Gap Openers are very good for opening these units up. These Gap Openers are small plastic blades that may be used to prise casings apart without damage, they often come free with equipment such as car dashboard mountings, or can be bought cheaply on the internet, often as part of an "Ipod Opening Toolkit".

The PCB edge is very close to the points where the knives are inserted to open the casing, so be careful not too push them in too far as the board could be easily damaged. If someone is not too familiar in doing something similar I think it is worth my mentioning a couple of points. Lets you turn on display of recording crid codes in programme info. Handy when the box comes up with odd recording clashes. Has anyone managed to open up Remote Control RM-F01 without breaking anything, there appears to be no screws available?

Having bought a replacement Remote, as the original was hit and miss after 7 years wear, the brand new replacement fails to initialise to the TV or DVD!! The indents are on the top plate at regular intervals. The "hooks" are on the side of the base. You just need to find the first one to spring... The remote control has gathered dirt which has led to keys that need quite a lot of force to be activated. I'd like to clean it up, but I simply cannot open the case. There are no screws, no clips, nothing. The battery compartment doesn't reveal anything either. It looks and feels as if it has been glued together, but that doesn't make sense.

Remember that everything is carried by the upper plate (the circuit board and button rubber is lightly clipped to it); including the battery springs which should lift out of their holders as you prise the cases apart. This is a fully compatible replacement remote control and performs all fixed functions of the original remote (excluding reprogrammable buttons) I have tried putting in the code for the 'TV' again, but I didn't expect much as the issue is with the 'PVR' option of the remote. Is there any way to reset the remote? Or any way to re-input the PVR code. I first removed the batteries for safety. The top and bottom are totally separate (no wires) when they come apart. There were no screws holding this remote together

I used cotton buds and methylated spirit to clean the printed circuit board. Ensure the chrome ring is reset correctly at NSEW positions and that the battery springs are in the right place. System SAT is UK's Leading Satellite Specialist have been trading online for more than 8 years, we are proud to have served over 150,000 customers since 2005. I inserted the tip of the small blade of a Swiss Army Knife into the seam that runs all around the remote 3mm from the top. I started about 90mm from the IR transmitter (between two lugs) and gently eased along the seam towards the middle of the remote, pushing out the side slightly and levering up the top, until the first lug popped out of its slot halfway along. I then carried on with this technique until all 14 lugs were popped. I found it easier to pop the end lugs after all the side lugs were freed. None broke and very little force was needed. The lugs are symmetrical each side and are positioned as follows starting from the IR end (top): 20mm, 65mm, 115mm (centre), 165mm and 210mm - each measurement to approximately the centre of the lug. There are two lugs on the bottom 15mm from each corner and two at the IR end 10mm from each corner. Thank you very much, I managed to clean out both of our remotes, following your advice. It did take a bit of brute force, but it has saved me buying a third replacement remote. Yours gratefully, Mike Many thanks to Barry & Martin Liddle for their tips and links as below, as now I have a fully working RM-F01 remote control once again.
