About this deal

The Nikon D5200 produced images of excellent quality during the review period. The D5200 produces noise-free JPEG images at ISO 100-1600, with ISO 3200 also looking pretty good. ISO 6400 only shows a little noise, while the fastest settings of ISO 12800 and 25600 are quite a lot noisier and suffer from softening of fine detail and a loss of saturation, but the images are still perfectly usable for small prints and resizing for web use. ISO 100 - 6400 in steps of 1/3 EV. Can also be set to approx. 0.3, 0.7, 1, or 2 EV (ISO 25600 equivalent) above ISO 6400; auto ISO sensitivity control available Prime lenses are helpful for many photographic situations, as they can be used for more than just shooting portraits, even tho that is their primary purpose. Wireless remote controller: WR-R10 wireless remote controller (available separately) Remote cord: MC-DC2 (available separately) GPS unit: GP-1 (available separately)

As covered above, the D5200 is super lightweight, but often sentences advanced users to diddling in menus to make basic settings instead of just shooting. D-Movie: Full (1080p) HD movies with smooth (up to 60i/50i) recording and a built-in stereo microphoneThe D3200’s 24-megapixel sensor produced disappointingly high noise levels at fast ISO speeds – compared to other SLRs at least – so it’s a nice surprise to find that the D5200’s 24-megapixel sensor exhibited significantly less noise. It also outperformed its main rival, the Canon EOS 650D at ISO 6400 and above, with less chroma noise producing a more forgiving monochromatic noise pattern in JPEGs. For the D5200, as with all DX cameras, my favorite lens is the 35mm f/1.8 DX as opposed to the 18-55mm VR kit zoom. I move as I need to to frame the photo, so I'd get the D5200 body-only and the 35mm f/1.8 DX separately. Sure, the focal length is not the best, as it only goes from 10 to 24mm, but if your main focus is on image quality, you will want to get this wide-angle lens for your Nikon D5200 camera.

The Nikon D5200 is Nikon's newest update to their excellent D5100 of 2011 and D5000 of 2009. These are all low-priced, high-performance DSLRs with pivoting LCD screens and Live View for shooting photos and movies while held away from your head. This is a high-performance lens for users looking for the best quality wide-angle lens. Still, if that is out of your price range, Tokina 11-16mm offers similar performance, but you will have to sacrifice versatility as the focal length goes only from 11 up to 16mm. And here are a couple of portrait shots. The built-in speedlight caused no red-eye effect in this test. Approx. 555 g (1 lb 3.6 oz) with battery and memory card but without body cap; approx. 505 g/1 lb 1.8 oz (camera body only)

To set anything about the AF system, you have to revert to the menu system. Even to change from automatic AF area selection to manual selection, you have to set it by pushing buttons and looking at the camera's rear screen.
