About this deal

In an increasingly cramped world, a modern guide to opening up your living space – and your life – using the ancient principles of feng shui.

Have a very clear backdrop, like a plain wall and shelf, and then curate and showcase a few objects that have real significance. Not often will architectural advice make you laugh out loud, but Cliff Tan is no ordinary architect. I would have liked that space to be used for things like suggested colour palettes for different rooms, and more information on how to identify what rooms have what energy and how to identify energy imbalances. If you step straight into your living room, try and create the illusion of an entry space by using a screen or table of flowers to divert the chi flow.

But it doesn't matter too much if you agree with these symbols or not, as the later parts of the book where he talks about architecture, furniture, etc. An enjoyable and informative read that gave me clear ideas about how to rearrange my furniture and make the most out of my space.

Whether he’s throwing out cushions with designs he finds offensive or declaring the light from venetian blinds ‘too aggressive’, Cliff’s Tigger-like energy and exuberance has earned the architect over 2 million followers on TikTok. Cliff does a great job of summarizing Feng Shui for the modern person and now I feel much less pressure to make my home “perfect”, but instead, to optimize Chi and how I feel when I walk in.Singaporean Cliff Tan is an architect with over 15 years experience in planning and space optimisation. A thoughtful gift for anyone going through the different phases of grief, to understand that this range of emotions is normal and part of the healing process. Cliff, 34, even has a catchphrase, ending each piece of advice – all flying arms and bubbling enthusiasm – with a grin and a cheery, “So, now you know! In Feng Shui Modern, Cliff explains the concepts of feng shui and then uses expert tips and practical diagrams to show - room by room - how our own styles, colour palettes and furniture can be used to maximise any environment. Her book is based on years of personal experience and training, supporting the bereaved through a structure and pace that offers practical and psychological support on a day by day basis. They should be in the living room too, otherwise it will feel like you’re among your friends and it won’t be the relaxing vibe you need as you fall asleep. We almost always feel better in a beautiful, balanced space, and that’s a step in the right direction to health, wealth and happiness. Since I'd already done that, reading this felt slightly redundant and I don't think I acquired any new information.

I would avoid red as it can destroy the water element, and if you have no window you must invest in a high quality vent to avoid stale air. This is for anyone who enjoys design (visual and interior), psychology, and decorating, and you don't have to be an expert because the explanations are so clear. From choosing a home to redecorating old rooms, Feng Shui Modern helps us find harmony in the every facet of our lives – beginning with where we live them. But then I read the intro to this book and realized Modern Feng Shui is about feeling good in the space you’re in and making the most of what you have. But seeing as I'm moving into my new apartment in a month, I decided to listen to his advice to hopefully learn something that would be useful. Menopause affects every woman, and yet so many approach it with shame, fear, misinformation or silence.
